About Sharyn Atkinson & The G.F. List Game Changer
Sharyn Atkinson published her first book, “The G.F. List: One Woman, With a List of Men, Answering the Question Singles Hate” in 2013 and now she is about to launch The G.F. List Game Changer; A Social Inclusion Project.
Sharyn Atkinson was single for twelve years before she reconnected with her now fiance in her late thirties. Sharyn wasn’t living under a rock or refusing to meet eligible bachelors in her hometown Melbourne, Australia though. She just was not interested in most of them, and the ones she was interested in still had their good and bad moments.
In her first book “The G.F. List: One Woman, With a List of Men, Answering the Question Singles Hate”, Sharyn Atkinson shares her roller coaster-like romantic life from her first boyfriend to through to relationships in her mid-thirties. Taking Sharyn Atkinson seven years to put The G.F. List on paper, you can rest assured that they’re not alone in the dating world.
Recognizing that people tend to find relationships difficult in one way or another, Sharyn wants to ensure no-one ever gives up hope or settles for a semi-satisfying relationship. Sharing her sense of resiliency, Sharyn inspires readers to find their perfect match. After all, he might be right around the corner as hers was.
Sharyn is now planning her wedding and plans on starting a family with her prince charming. She stood by what she wanted in a relationship and she now has it, without settling for anyone in the process. Ironically, her fiance does appear in her discarded list of men, which you can still read about and learn why she wasn’t interested in him twenty years ago. In The G.F. List, Sharyn tells the stories of her dating experiences—the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Since launching The G.F. List, Sharyn has given hundreds of copies away; particularly on each Valentine’s Day. The day she dreaded most as a single person, living alone because it was so intrusive when people asked countless questions about why she was single. It can be tough being single and even when you have plenty of people around you every day, it can still feel lonely at times.
Recent studies, from all over the world, show that loneliness can be just as damaging to your health as obesity, smoking and being an alcoholic. Loneliness, social isolation and living alone are the next big public health issues affecting mortality which Sharyn describes as ‘pretty messed up’. Sharyn is now launching The G.F. List Game Changer – a social inclusion project to help single people all over the world feel empowered and inspired by her story of resilience so that they never give up hope, and continue just as they are.
